This product started the tradition of yearly Zayed Planners by Aljoud Lootah Design Studio.
For the Year of Zayed:
A dedicated planner
Each year, the UAE sets a unifying annual theme, to be observed, practiced and commemorated throughout the year.
For the Year of Zayed, we created a planner to honor this memorable date, marking 100 years since the birth of the UAE’s Founding Father His Highness Sheikh Zayed.
Within the team, I was first in charge of structuring the graphic layout of the planner with it’s variety of sections – yearly, monthly, weekly, and daily – along with blank pages to capture notes and thoughts.
Once I finalized it in English, it was adapted into an Arabic version, ensuring a consistent design language across both English and Arabic.
Each section showcases original artwork by Emirati artist Nada Al Abdooli and features His Highness Sheikh Zayed's insightful poems and quotes in both Arabic and English.
Iconic moments were captured in simple pen sketches and pointalism.
Production Time:
Locally printed and sourced
Our team chose locally sourced camel leather in black and tan. We used a local printer and tannery to bring the planner off screen and into tangible form. To add an element of surprise, we also created complementary postcards and stickers.
A Yearly Companion Planner:
Through the rich world of HH Sheikh Zayed
Designed to commemorate the UAE’s Founding Father, every month of the Zayed Planner is infused with wisdom from the late HH Sheikh Zayed.
The planner invites people to reflect on the Founding Father's legacy, transforming daily organization into a motivating journey of growth and reflection.
The planners were a resounding success across the UAE! So much so that this product launched ALDS’s Side Note, a design-led stationary and lifestyle products brand.
Side Note has continued to produce a yearly Zayed Planner every year since this first planner in 2018. It has now expanded to specific planners celebrating leaders of the different Emirates.
